Sof:
The snow stopped around midnight, Saturday. Shovelling resumed once again Sunday morning.....or should I say, Paul resumed shovelling.....and met further neighbours! How wonderful! Luckily is was a beautiful day, so the paths quickly melted where people had cleared them. We decided to go for a walk round the local area....and met 0 people!! Apart from some kid sledging!
Because of the snow, we could see where everyone had been walking, so we managed to find the short cut out to the main road through the hospital - success! That will definitely cut around 15 minutes off the walking time! We then had a look for the shortcut to I50 (that's a road), but were unsuccessful! We found lots of beautiful woods, calf deep snow, deer tracks and a water reservoir, but no shortcut. Never mind, we have loadsa time for further walking. Maybe I can set the visitors off to see who can find it first!!
Upon return to Brycock Mansions, we were greeting by the most calls we have had yet. For around 2 hours the telephone and computer did not stop! It was fantastic to chat to Blighty, espec when we can have proper 2 way conversations (thanks Neil for the eternal mindpoloroids of you with that microphone), and it was fab showing Paul's mum around the house. It's only my mum left to get Skype!
We are still on the hunt for a car.....I seriously want a Honda, but we don't want to spend too much. Luckily we get Paul's predecessors minivan (ford windstar) as he is getting the head gasket sorted and we'll pay the difference for the price, but for an everyday run around? This thing will eat around 16 miles to the gallon....hmmmmm...might as well buy a hummer!!! HA! Can you imagine ME in a hummer?? It was bad enough me picking up a gun to go clay pigeon shooting (which I loved and was particularly good at, strangely). But looking at the Chrysler convertibles (oh yes!) they do around 19 miles to the gallon!! hmmmmmm. And having the minivan would be great for when people come to stay, which at the moment is averaging every 2 months (how exciting!!). Thoughts on a postcard please!
So bringing you to the present, I had my first outing today, to a Pilate's class with Alice. It was really hard (I am so de-conditioned) and I've never messed about with balls and hoops before, but it was fun! The poor instructor probably wondered who the hell I was, attempting to use my 'core'! What core??!! At least I know it won't take long to build it all up again. A further date has been booked for this Friday!
On a negative note, my hands are really suffering (chapped and itchy) and my lip split earlier - well painful! My filling is loose, which is making my tooth real sensitive and my net curtains didn't come out white.
On a positive note, I fixed the dishwasher(hammer and screwdriver combo), Alice gave me some tips on reducing static electricity, I've discovered the trash and recycling days and items and my husband returns in about 20 minutes.
Love it!
